The chair backs are carved with a French country folk figure in traditional dress. The crest rail is crowned with a ship wheel carving, which pays tribute to the maritime history of the Brittany region in France. The wheel design is simple but bold, and it almost makes an architectural statement. The ship wheel is flanked by a rosette-carved block and finial topping the turned chair posts. The seat is upholstered with handsome tobacco brown embossed leather, and the leather is accented by a nail head trim.
