Comment:
An unusual Antique Money Table Sideboard Chest of Drawers Buffet Coffer in elm from the Shanxi Province of China and featuring beautiful side spandrels carved with the spiraling cloud design. Beneath the framed plank top, the waist narrows above the two original drawers that have interesting carved trim around the replaced hardware. The trim on the top two drawers is in the shape of the Ruyi or Mushroom, which is thought to symbolize longevity. Originally known as an Antique Chinese Coffer, this Antique Chinese Chest of Drawers had a hidden area beneath the upper drawers that was meant as a safe place to store the family's valuables. The original panel has been converted to three drawers to make the piece more functional for today. The original natural tree lacquer is quite worn on the top surface and at the legs due to age and use and reveals the pretty elm grain. This charming Antique Chinese Money Table was purchased at a merchant's shop where it was used like a cash register. This rustic Antique Chinese Sideboard would work well as an Accent Table and its drawers provide useful storage areas. Don't miss the chance to add this Antique Chinese Chest of Drawers to your home!
